For years women were always the caretakers when it came to the kids. Times have changed and men are sharing more of the responsibility of parenting. Sadly, many men still have problems when it comes time to change a diaper. They need a little extra training in this area of parenting.
So here are a few tips to help all you guys out there on your next diaper changing adventure.
1. Get all the supplies you will need together before you begin to change the diaper.
2. Be prepared for a mid-change accident, especially if the baby is a boy. Keep the little rascal covered just in case. Cause when he has to go, there is no holding back, he's just going to go!
3. If you are diapering a newborn, don't forget to take the steps needed to care for the umbilical cord stump.
4. Changing a toddler's diaper can be difficult sometimes. They often don't want to be still long enough to get their diaper changed. Choose an area that is as distraction free as possible. If you are changing them on a couch or bed, you need to keep a hand on them at all times to prevent them from falling.
5. Make sure you put the diaper on the right way. Having the diaper on backwards won't give as much protection for the little one.
6. Be gentle.Twisting a baby into a pretzel just to change their diaper is not a good thing.
7 .Don't forget to remove the toilet paper from your nose and trash it after the diaper is changed.
8. Running away when you see what is in the diaper is not an option.
9. Spraying the baby's butt off with the kitchen sink sprayer is not a shortcut.
10. A Hazmat suit is not proper diaper changing attire.
