Infomercials Create Lazy People!

Infomercials have taken over late night television in the past few years. No matter what it is that you want to do, there is a ground-breaking product that will make it easier. Many of the more popular items that are sold via infomercials are products to help you do something as simple as crack an egg. I thought that egg cracking was something that I had mastered over the years, but obviously I was wrong.

Are we all getting that lazy? I mean seriously, since when did it become so difficult to crack an egg that I need to buy this egg cracker to do it for me? We are always hearing about how we need to eat healthier, and then you turn on the television and see an ad for a giant cupcake pan. Well, now you definitely have to get one of those! Forget eating healthier.

We have all become spoiled with technology and new contraptions. Just because there is some magical product that will cut one step or two seconds of time off of an ordinary task, we think we have to have it. Millions of dollars are wasted on products that in all honesty are probably never even used after they are purchased. By the time I go to the cabinet and get the egg cracker out, I could have cracked three eggs with my own hands.

It has gotten so out of hand that there are now video montages devoted to the epic fails of people trying to do simple everyday tasks like chopping vegetables or covering up with a blanket. And of course, there is a great new product out there that can keep you from having to deal with these horrible problems.

As a society we need to take a look around and see that we are all too busy taking shortcuts. Most kids today are going to grow up relying on all of these products because they were never taught how to actually do things on their own. Even if you do cave in and purchase some of these products, take the time to teach your kids how to do things with their own two hands. Otherwise, they will grow up not knowing how to do anything without some kind of tool to assist them. God forbid the power goes out, they will be lost and have no clue how to take care of themselves.
